Ann was born and raised in the Bay View District of San Francisco. she lived in San Rafael, and retired to Sonoma in 1993.

Ann will be greatly missed by her husband, George; children, Georgann, Aaron and adopted daughter, Shirley. She is also survived by two loving brothers and three sisters, Joseph Sultana and wife Kay, Sam Sultana and wife Alberta, May Sultana, Evelyn Sultana and husband Frank Buhagiar, and Antoinette Sultana and husband Donald Strong. She has numerous nieces, nephews and friends who graced her life with special time and numerous occasions.

Ann's legacy, to all she touched, will be her Franciscan Spirituality. She lived a life from the tenderness of the heart that expressed itself through loving action toward others. As Rilke put it, "Work of sight is done; now do heart work." Or as Ann put it, "Those who are not busy being born are busy dying." George Pieczonka was the author of Ann of Green Pastures in 2007.

He was the fifth of six children. A WWII veteran that served honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard piloting troop landing barges and serving with the infantry on the beaches in the South Pacific. He returned home and worked for 40 years as an auto mechanic and as a highly respected service manager for a number of local Dodge dealerships. He had a passion for deep sea and fly fishing, piloting his boat on the Delta waterways and barbecuing. He was a long time supporter and season ticket holder for the San Francisco 49ers and loved the tail gate parties. He was a past commodore for the Delta Yacht Club and a current member of the Blue Gavel Organization for Past Commodores. Preceded in death by his sister Ann Pieczonka, brother Sam Sultana, brother-in-law Don Strong, and his niece/daughter-in-law Rosemary Gudelj. Joe is survived by many loving family members: his wife of 41 years Catherine (Kay) Sultana, his children; Norine Sultana-McCall (George McCall), Mark Sultana (Joyce King-Sultana), Craig Sultana, and Steve Gudelj. He is also survived by his sisters, May Sultana, Evelyn Buhagiar (Frank Buhagiar) and Antoinette Strong; as well as sister-in-law Albertina Sultana, brother-in-law George Pieczonka, and granddaughter Kristi Ceroseli. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews. He dearly loved his entire family. Joe always shared smiles, kind words, contagious humor, and generosity with everyone he met. He took such joy in lending a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He was a true gentleman and beloved by all.
